The Amherst Heritage Commission and many civic organizations from the area are pleased to announce an important event that will happen in the Old Burial Grounds by the Amherst Town Hall. On Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11:00AM, the town will be unveiling a Revolutionary War Plaque and Monument. In preparing for the 250th celebration of our independence, the Amherst Heritage Commission noticed that one key war memorial was missing in Amherst- a memorial to honor our local patriots and citizens who answered the call in the fight for independence. This is just one event that is planned as part of the 250th anniversary of independence this coming July 4th.
The celebration will have the Honor Guard of the Harley Sanford VFW Post 4368 posting colors, a short dedication ceremony and the possibility of music provided by the Souhegan High School Band. After the ceremony, light refreshment will be provided in the Town Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room.
This celebration was provided by financial support and generosity from the following organizations: Harley Sanford VFW Post 4366, the VFW Post Auxiliary, the Villagers Chapter of Questers, the Amherst Heritage Commission, the Capt Josiah Crosby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and from private citizens. Your thoughtfulness is quite honorable and very much appreciated. Thank you for your valued contribution. You truly made a difference!!
