Traffic Enforcement Manager

The Traffic Enforcement Manager within the Amherst Police Department is crucial to overseeing and coordinating traffic enforcement efforts throughout the community. This position involves supervising  officers and developing strategies to ensure traffic laws are enforced effectively and fairly. The manager collaborates with various town departments to develop strategies that improve road safety, manage traffic flow, and reduce accidents. A key aspect of the role is engaging with Amherst residents to address concerns such as speeding in neighborhoods or pedestrian safety near schools. Additionally, the Traffic Enforcement Manager analyzes traffic data and incident reports to guide enforcement strategies and recommend improvements.  Working closely with the Amherst Highway Traffic Safety Committee and the Department of Public Works, the manager provides feedback and makes recommendations regarding traffic control devices and signage.
