Hunting

Hunting, in accordance with New Hampshire Fish and Game regulations, is permitted on ACC conservation land.  Please be extra careful if you are hunting on land containing hiking and biking trails, and mindful that hikers and bikers, though urged to wear safety colors, may not be doing so.  Also, though discouraged, unleashed dogs may be running along or near the hiking trails.  Erecting tree stands is allowed under the constraints of the following ACC policy:

ACC Tree Stand Policy

Consistent with State guidelines1,2, the Amherst Conservation Commission (ACC) requires that anyone wishing to install a tree stand or ladder for hunting on lands managed by the ACC, receive written permission from the ACC in advance of the hunting season. Tree stands may be erected no earlier than August 1st, and must be removed no later than January 31st. Tree stands must have the owner’s name, address, and phone number affixed. Tree stands shall not be located within 100 feet of any ACC trail and shall not be positioned with a field of fire across any such trail. The ACC reserves the right to remove any tree stand found on ACC-managed lands that is not in compliance with this policy.
