Town Treasurer, Appointed (Finance Department)

A Treasurer for a New Hampshire municipality serves as the custodian of the town's funds, ensuring that public money is safeguarded, accurately accounted for, and disbursed only as authorized.

The role typically includes making bank deposits several times (typically 2-3) per week, reviewing and signing accounts payable and payroll manifests, reviewing bank reconciliations, and approving electronic banking transactions to maintain strong internal controls. The Treasurer also works with the Finance Director to manage cash flow and invest excess funds in accordance with New Hampshire law and the town's investment policy. Residency in the Town of Amherst is not required.

This is a stipend position which requires availability during the 8-4 Monday - Friday workday and averages 5 hours a week commitment. The full Job Description is available HERE.
