Join members of the Amherst Conservation Commission as we kick off a "Trail of the Month Outing” the 3rd Saturday of every month at 10am. We will explore a different trail or parcel of conservation land in town each month.  Click here for outing information and registration.

Amherst has Over 25 miles of trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and other forms of passive recreation.  With over 1000 acres of Conservation land in town, there are many “hidden gems”  to explore!
Many of the trails are rugged, with occasional steep slopes and variable surface terrain - snow, rocks, roots and streams abound!  Please wear appropriate outdoor attire, and plan to walk 1-2 hours.  For winter hikes, plan on bringing snowshoes and/or micro spikes. For more information, visit the NH Hike Safe website for assistance in how to prepare for a day in the woods, and familiarize yourself with the 10 essentials.

Please carpool, most areas have limited parking.  Families welcome!

For a current list of Trail of the Month Outings, see the Amherst Recreation site for these events and we'd appreciate it if you'd register there for the outing(s) you are interested in so we know how many to expect.
