The Finance Department is seeking to appoint a TOWN TREASURER

The Town of Amherst is seeking to appoint a part-time Treasurer. The Treasurer is a key component of the Town’s cash management program. This position involves gathering information necessary to determine cash needs, such as borrowing, timely depositing, disbursement, receipt, investing, and accountability of municipal funds. The Treasurer is also responsible for the maintenance of related records and reports, such as cash reconciliations and a written year-end report to be included in the annual Town Report. 

The Town has a detailed deposit policy and investment policy to help guide the Treasurer. There is also the State RSA 41:29 which outlines the duty of the Municipal Treasurer.

The desired applicant would have a background in accounting practices and financial reporting.  A familiarity with bookkeeping practices, banking procedures, and a working knowledge of financial software applications is beneficial. The ability to work well with people and a knowledge of basic computer skills is required. Amherst residence is not a requirement.
