Transfer Station

Closed for the following 2024 Holidays:
New Years Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Thanksgiving Day (November 28), Friday After Thanksgiving (November 29).

We strongly encourage residents to view our two transfer station live cameras anytime they plan on using the Transfer Station facility, to determine how long of a wait there may be at different times throughout the day. The shortened week will likely lead to longer than normal wait times. Here is a link to the live camera view that can be found on the transfer station web-page on the Town website: https://www.amherstnh.gov/public-works/transfer-station/pages/transfer-station-live-cameras

The Transfer Station is located on Route 101 heading east between Walnut Hill and Horace Greeley Roads. Most non-hazardous wastes can be left there. Fees are charged for a few items. It is to everyone’s advantage to recycle as much as possible because items put in the trash compactors cost the town more than anything else for disposal. Use the recycling flier to learn where and how to recycle whatever you have. The Amherst Transfer Station is overseen by the Amherst Solid Waste Task Force. The day-to-day operations are run by the Amherst DPW. Amherst participates in the Nashua Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program.

Hazardous wastes are not accepted at the Amherst Transfer Station.

Check at the scale house for information on prices or handling of specific materials. Information available at the scale house is definitive and final.
