ROAD CONSTRUCTION 2024/2025
Spring road work will commence soon and be completed prior to June 30, 2024. This work includes paving Austin Rd. (between Pine Top and Mack Hill Rd.), DPW parking lot, and a top coat on Old Mont Vernon Rd.
Road work for the FY25 contract will begin after July 1, 2024. Our priority projects this year include Chestnut Hill Rd. (including Wolf Ln. & Fellows Farm Rd.), and Deerwood Dr. Other work completed will depend on available budget and may include Melendy Hollow, Holt Rd., Newbury Dr., Hemlock Hill RD., Storybrook Ln., Eaton Rd., Old Milford Rd., Old Lantern Way, Fieldstone Dr., and the Baboosic Lake Beach parking lot.

The Amherst Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the infrastructure of the town. Though the DPW is most often recognized for paving roads in the summer, and clearing them of snow in the winter, their responsibilities go far beyond that. They maintain all town buildings, the cemeteries, the town green and parks, and also operate the transfer station and the Baboosic Lake Community Septic System. The dedicated staff consists of 15 full-time employees. Please call on them at (603) 673-2317 for assistance or any questions you may have regarding the town’s infrastructure. The business office is open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM. The Department can be contacted at all other times for more urgent matters through the communications center.
