Transfer Station
FOR RESIDENTS ONLY - MUST HAVE VALID TRANSFER STATION STICKER
Transfer Station is for homeowner generated trash, construction debris, yard debris and recycling only. No commercial trash is accepted. Swap Shop is for residents only.
Closed for the following 2025 Holidays:
New Years Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Thanksgiving Day (November 28), Friday After Thanksgiving (November 29), Christmas Day (December 25).
We strongly encourage residents to view our two transfer station live cameras anytime they plan on using the Transfer Station facility, to determine how long of a wait there may be at different times throughout the day. Any shortened week will likely lead to longer than normal wait times. Please form multiple vehicle lines when we are experiencing heavy traffic volumes. Here is our link to the live camera view that can be found on the transfer station web-page on the Town website: https://www.amherstnh.gov/public-works/transfer-station/pages/transfer-station-live-cameras
The Transfer Station is located on Route 101 heading east between Walnut Hill and Horace Greeley Roads. Most non-hazardous wastes can be left there. Fees are charged for a few items. It is to everyone’s advantage to recycle as much as possible because items put in the trash compactors cost the town more than anything else for disposal. Use the recycling flier to learn where and how to recycle whatever you have. The Amherst Transfer Station is overseen by the Amherst Solid Waste Task Force. The day-to-day operations are run by the Amherst DPW. Amherst participates in the Nashua Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program.
Hazardous wastes are not accepted at the Amherst Transfer Station.
