Seeking Host
Families for 16 days in October
The
Souhegan High School and Mascenic High School communities will
be hosting a Homestay Exchange Program, Oct 17-November 2,
2010. This is an annual program for over 6 years - a group from
Mannheim Germany will visit this area; a group of 39 students
signed up for this successful program. We are still in need of
several host families.
Calling all families with high schoolers or homeschoolers in
Souhegan or Mascenic school districts!
We are looking for caring families
that enjoy learning about different cultures and making lasting
friendships with foreign students. Any family, large or small,
with high school age children can be a host family. The only
requirement is a desire to welcome a foreign student into one’s
family circle and show him/her the same interest and caring any
traveler seeks when in a strange land. It is not as demanding
as it seems. The family provides a bed and meals and allows the
visitor to participate in its usual back to school activities.
The students will be occupied every day either in class or on a
trip. The trips depart and return from the local high school.
The program runs from October 17-November 2nd~ just 16 days!!
If you’ve ever wanted to host, now
is a great time to try it out. The applications are available
for immediate matching!! These students want to come to the US
to learn about our country and the most beneficial way is as a
member of an American family. (Don’t worry you don’t have to
speak German to host, as these students do speak English.)Local
students will have the opportunity to travel to Germany in the
Spring 2011 on a reciprocal school exchange to Germany. We need
to have a family for each student before they arrive. Even if
you can only host for part of the time, we would still like to
be called. You will be given a profile once a match has been
made enabling you to communicate with your student prior to
their arrival by email or facebook. Please call Sue
Boswell at 978-835-0133 or email hostandgo@charter.net today for
more information. Let’s find a host family for these kids!
