History in the Making: Town Hall Renovations

2003-2005

Planned improvements to the Amherst town hall include a new basement under the existing Town Hall, fire sprinklers, and a ramp, elevator, and bathrooms compliant with the Americans with Disabilities ACt (ADA). The new basement will be used for a combination of storage, a new conference room and office space that allows for future expansion. The first floor will be reconfigured to make better use of the available space, with the addition of a new conference room. The front door will be restored as the main entrance for the town hall. Externally, the construction will leave the Town Hall still looking much as it looked when it was built in 1825.
