Zoning Board of Adjustment Applications

The Amherst Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for inspections and for maintaining records of buildings and zoning within the town. Building permits and inspections are required for most construction and development within the town. Please don't hesitate to call us to ask further questions or to clarify procedural matters.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment is a quasi judicial Board whose function is to review requests for relief from the strict regulations of the Ordinance of the Town of Amherst.  Applicants may apply to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for Special Exceptions, Variances or Appeal Administrative Decisions.
