The Amherst Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for inspections and for maintaining records of
buildings and zoning within the town.
Building permits and inspections are required for most construction and development within the town.
Please don't hesitate to call us to ask further questions or to clarify procedural matters.
The Planning & Zoning Department accepts applications for reviews by the
Planning Board,
the Historic District Commission,
and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
They also issue Oil & Propane Installation permits, Blasting permits, and
Tank removal permits for the Fire Department.
