Things to Do in Amherst, NH

This is a list of local organizations and locations that provide recreational and educational opportunities for Amherst citizens.

Local clubs, and recreational and educational orgainizations may send a request to the town hall to add their name to this list. Include you group name, address, phone number, web site, email address, and a one sentence description of the activites you provide and those who your group is aimed at (children, adults, retired people, newcomers, etc.).

Amherst Area Newcomers Club, The Amherst Area Newcomers is a social club formed in 1970 to help people meet other people in Amherst and the neighboring towns of Milford and Mont Vernon.
Amherst Destination Imagination, Destination ImagiNation is an international program to teach kids the process of creative problem solving through discovery. Students from kindergarten through High School have fun while learning to value creativity and teamwork. Teams form in the fall, leading up to regional, state, and national competions in the spring.
Amherst Junior Womens' Club, The Amherst Junior Women's Club was formed over 40 years ago. It is made up of Amherst women who plan fun community events and volunteer their time, energy and fundraising talent to civic projects, Amherst public schools, and educational enrichment. In addition, the Club is directly involved in providing food, clothing, and services to those in need in Amherst and the surrounding communities. Membership is open to any Amherst women over age 21. Amherst Garden Club, PO Box 694 Amherst, New Hampshire, 03031. The object and purpose of the Amherst Garden Club shall be to beautify public and private property; to assist its members in achieving proficiency in gardening; to further good conservation practices.  The Garden Club's Annual Plant Sale is on Saturday, May 10, 2008 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (rain or shine) at the Wilkins Elementary School (1/2 mile from the Village Green.  For more information go to: www.amherstgardenclub.org
Amherst Lions Club, District 44-N, Amherst, New Hampshire. Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in their local and world communities. By conducting service projects and raising funds, Lions strive to help those in need, wherever the need exists. The Lions' motto is "We Serve."
Amherst Motercycle Club, Amherst, New Hampshire. Our informal club is made up of southern New Hampshire folks that like to get out on their cruisers on the weekends. There are no officers, dues or meetings, just riders. If that's you and you live in or near Amherst, NH come out on one of our rides.
Amherst Town Band, The Amherst Town Band provides an opportunity for adult and student musicians from the greater Amherst, New Hampshire area, to take part in an active performing band for their personal pleasure and enrichment. Greater Nashua & Souhegan Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, Volunteer to help the American Red Cross. They are looking for volunteers to help make a difference every day. The Red Cross provides emergency assistance for victims of fire, flood or any disaster; they teach people how to save lives with CPR & First Aid training, and they help the familes of military personnel in numerous ways.
Peabody Mill Environmental Center and Joe English Reservation, Visit Peabody Mill Environmental Center at the end of Brook Road and bring hiking boots, or rent snowshoes in the wintertime. There are plenty of trails to hike, a small nature museum and shoeshoes for rent, too.
Souhegan Valley Chorus, The Souhegan Valley Chorus is the community chorus for the Amherst-Milford area, The Chorus welcomes any interested singers (H.S. age through seniors) in the region. They rehearse weekly at the Milford Middle School and usually perform two concerts a year in the Souhegan H.S. auditorium.
