Celebrating Our Founding Fathers
Parade Information In A Nutshell
This information is provide for those who plan to march or participate in the parade.
Where:
Wilkins School, Boston Post Road, Amherst, NH
Animals: Spalding Field
Bicycles: Knight Rd. and Main St.
Time:
Step Off: 10:00 Sharp!
Arrive at School: by 9:15 AM, There is heavy traffic coming through town. Leave enough time!
Parking:
Cars: Behind school only
Buses: Arrangements can be made ahead of time for parking at end of parade
route; pick-up at parking spot for driver to return to Wilkins. Contact
Nancy Head, 673-1389 or .
Information:
Information Tent is at back of front lawn opposite Wilkins front door. Checks, water, and information
are available. Volunteers have on orange vests. Committee members have nametags.
Insurance Rules:
Each vehicle must have proof of insurance.
No handing out or throwing anything, including candy!
All animals must be under the control of their owners with dogs on a leash.
Parade Formation:
New Hampshire Dignitaries:
Governor, Senators, Congressman, Executive Councilor, State Senator, State
Representatives, County Commissioner, Town Manager, Selectmen, School
Boards. Please gather under the trees to the left of the entrance driveway to Wilkins School.
Dignitaries should be ready to move into the entrance driveway in the above order when the fire
engines move out. Each group will wait at the end of the entranceway to be motioned into the parade.
Campaigning Groups:
Please form on Jones Road and follow Political Campaign
Chairman's instructions. He will have on an orange vest and a nametag.
Floats:
Signs will be posted in the parking area between the two green areas in front of the
school. Each float should move up as the float in front of it moves up until it reaches the street
and is motioned into the parade.
Antique Cars:
Please line up along New Boston Road; move up in groups of five
or six to the right hand side of Boston Post Road. Wait to be motioned into
the parade formation. All vehicles must have proof of insurance. Please do not
hand out or throw candy.
Fire Engines:
Line up on Boston Post Road opposite the school. Please do not
throw candy from the fire engines.
Marching Units, Bands:
Please check with the Information Tent to see where you will be forming on the front field
and what group you will follow. When the fire engines leave, all groups should gather at their
formation point ready to move up as the group ahead of them moves up. Upon reaching the street,
each group should wait until it is told to move into the parade.
Animals:
Please form at Spalding Field on Davis Lane. Enter the parade when
requested as quickly as possible.
