The Amherst July 4th celebration is scheduled to begin the evening of Saturday, July 3rd, with the parade to follow on Sunday
the 4th, as always.
The theme chosen by the Fourth of July Committee this year is “Amherst at 250: Then and Now!”
Events will include fireworks at Souhegan High school on the 3rd and the parade Sunday morning in the village , with six bands, floats, mini entries, antique cars,
the Wheelmen, N.H. Regiments, descendants of early Amherst families, the Mini-Kars, and much more.
The political part of the parade is expected to feature local and state candidates. After the parade get a hot dog, burger, slice of pizza, chili, or vegetarian wrap;
examine the interesting booths on the green or watch a craft demonstration.
Then examine the artwork displayed by more than 30 New Hampshire artists at the art show on the green.
Enjoy the many children’s activities or the dog show after the reviewing stand ceremony.
Check the complete schedule, the special events and the
overview of events for details.
The Fourth of July Committee will sell the sixth pin in their series of
specially designed Amherst July 4th pins this year.
Finally, print a copy of the Amherst Independence Day Celebration poster
to put on your refrigerator or to post somewhere in town.
Anyone interested in putting a booth up on the green, in helping with the activities,
or joining the committee, should call Nancy Head, 673-1389 or e-mail her at
