Minot Ross Bird Sanctuary

Minot Ross Grass

The Minot J. Ross Bird Sanctuary is located close to the center of the Amherst village. This sanctuary consists of 12 acres given by Eleanor Ross in memory of her husband and an abutting 9 acres given to the residents of Amherst by Karl Norwood. It is a natural wetland with access at Thorton's Ferry I Road. The wetland continues to Route 101. Birdhouses and a viewing platform have been erected there. Although to wet for much hiking, it is a great place to view birds in Amherst.
