2010 WINTER STORM

February 28, 2010

The town of Amherst and surrounding areas have suffered significant damage, including flooding, washed out roads, downed trees, limbs and power lines.  Some of the town remains without power.

A warming station will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 9pm at the central fire station.  Water is available at the fire station and police station.  Shower facilities are available at Souhegan High School from 9am to 9pm, via the north side entrance.

If you need assistance or know someone in need of assistance, or shelter, please call the Amherst Emergency Services dispatch center at 673-4900.  A shelter facility is available at the Cashin Senior Activity Center, 151 Douglas St., Manchester.

We do not know how long power will be out, however, PSNH has advised this will be a multi-day event.

As of this evening (Sunday), no roads are closed.

Residents are reminded to adhere to generator safety recommendations.  Generators must be used outdoors, well away from any structure, and not inside garages, etc.

If you have not already done so, residents are encouraged to sign up for the CodeRED emergency notification service, which may be used again to update residents.  For anyone that still has internet access, the signup page is available via link at www.amherstnh.gov, and amherstpolice.com

In the case of emergency please call 911, or locally 673-4900.
