This element of the Amherst Master Plan is the key that will link everything else together. It is lead and guided by the Steering Committee as a whole with help from the comunity Circle consultants.

Planning Our Vision & Goals
for the Future of Amherst

The first step in creating a new Master Plan is to discuss and determine what our vision of the future of Amherst is and to set some goals for the future. Then based on the vision and goals, the other elements of the Master plan can be examined in more detail.

Discussing our Vision & Goals

The vision and goals can be discussed initially on the discussion forum. Further discussion will be organized in other places this spring.

Legal Requirements

A vision section is one of two required section in a Master Plan, according to New Hampshire state regulations.. RSA 674:2 states:

The master plan shall include, at a minimum, the following required sections:
(a) A vision section that serves to direct the other sections of the plan. This section shall contain a set of statements which articulate the desires of the citizens affected by the master plan, not only for their locality but for the region and the whole state. It shall contain a set of guiding principles and priorities to implement that vision.
